What happens if my WACE English ATAR does not meet Curtin's English requirement?

All applicants are required to meet the English competency requirement for Curtin.

To meet the English competency requirement, WA School Leavers require a scale mark of at least 50 in one of the following:

English ATAR
Literature ATAR
English as an Additional Language/Dialect ATAR (EALD)

If you have not met this requirement, Curtin will concede competence in English if you have achieved a moderated numeric school assessment or numeric examination assessment of at least 60 in English ATAR or Literature ATAR. For English as an Additional Language/Dialect ATAR, a moderated written school assessment or written exam mark of at least 60 is required.

If you do not achieve a sufficient scaled mark in English ATAR, Literature ATAR or EALD ATAR, you may demonstrate your competence in English by sitting the Written English component of the
Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT). Further information on the STAT can be found at the TISC website.

Depending on your circumstances, there may be another English competency test that you may undertake to meet the English requirements. For further information, please refer to the Qualifications Accepted as Satisfying Curtin University's Minimum English Entry Requirements list.

For further information, please contact the Admissions Office via email,
